Our National Flag

The national flag of Bangladesh is a symbol of pride and identity for the people of the country. It features a deep green background with a large red disc in the centre, representing the rising sun. The color green symbolizes the country's lush vegetation and agricultural heritage, while the red disc represents the bloodshed and sacrifices made during the struggle for independence from Pakistan in 1971. The flag has a rectangular shape with a length to width ratio of 10:6. The size of the national flag is regulated by law, with specifications for the proportions and dimensions of the flag for different occasions and uses. The flag is flown on public and private buildings, during national holidays and events, and on official government vehicles. The flag is also an essential component of the country's diplomatic representation abroad, and it is prominently displayed at Bangladeshi embassies and high commissions worldwide. The national flag is kept half-mast on the occasion of national mourning day and on the 21st February. However, our national flag is not just a piece of cloth, but it represents the identity and dignity of the nation. The flag serves as a unifying force that brings the people of Bangladesh together under a common goal of progress, development, and prosperity. The July Revolution-2024

The July Revolution of 2024 in Bangladesh marked a turning point in the nation's history. Initially sparked by students protesting the longstanding quota system, the movement soon became a powerful wave against the authoritarian rule, systemic corruption, that had built up over 16 years. The government, criticized for its deeply corrupt institutions and lack of accountability, responded with violent repression. In the early stage of the quota reform protests, the government's heavy-handed approach led to multiple student deaths, including those of Abu Sayed and Mugdha, and several others. This brutality ignited widespread outrage, and thousands took to the streets, transforming the student-led protest into a nationwide movement. Throughout the revolution, over a thousand students and citizens, including at least 67 children, lost their lives. By August 5, the poople of Bangladesh had reached their limit and took to the streets in overwhelming numbers to oust the fascist rogime. Being frightened, the fascist Prime Minister, along with family and close party members, fled the country, seeking shelter in neighbouring country, India. Following their departure, Nobel Laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus answered the call of the people, assuming the role of Chief Advisor to an Interim Government on August 8. This revolution stands as a testament to the power of collective will. However, the July Revolution reshaped Bangladesh's political landscape, ushering in a renewed commitment to democratic principles and a hopeful future led by the voice of the people.
